In value terms, China ($X) also remains the largest artificial staple fibre supplier in Eastern Asia.

Artificial staple fibre imports surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 36% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
In value terms, artificial staple fibre imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 56%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (X tons) represented the largest importer of artificial staple fibres, comprising 61% of total imports. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), constituting a 35% share of total imports. South Korea (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Democratic People's Republic of Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
