In value terms, basic dye exports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 9.3% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
China represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 80% of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Japan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total exports. The following exporters - South Korea (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to basic dye exports from China stood at -6.0%. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. South Korea (-2.2%), Hong Kong SAR (-4.2%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Japan increased by +2 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest basic dye supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 9.1% share.
In China, basic dye exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.5% per year) and Japan (-2.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -9% against the previous year. Export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, basic dye export price decreased by -12.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+11.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Asia
In 2021, supplies from abroad of basic dyes and preparations based thereon increased by 23% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, basic dye imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -29.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 62%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons) and Japan (X tons) represented the major importers of basic dyes and preparations based thereon in 2021, amounting to near 41% and 29% of total imports, respectively. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by South Korea (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 30% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +14.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, China ($X), Japan ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 80% of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +6.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 25%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
