Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, blood-grouping reagents exports fell notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In 2022, South Korea (X tons) represented the major exporter of blood-grouping reagents, comprising 62% of total exports. China (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons). All these countries together held near 38% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to blood-grouping reagents exports from South Korea stood at +15.0%. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (+17.0%), China (+10.6%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hong Kong SAR emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of South Korea, China and Hong Kong SAR increased by +46, +12 and +8.4 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Korea ($X) remains the largest blood-grouping reagents supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 14% share.
In South Korea, blood-grouping reagents exports increased at an average annual rate of +23.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+15.5% per year) and China (+6.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Blood-Grouping Reagents Imports
Imports in Eastern Asia
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of blood-grouping reagents decreased by -0.9% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 104% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, blood-grouping reagents imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 88% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
China represented the key importer of blood-grouping reagents in Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 69% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), committing a 20% share of total imports. South Korea (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to blood-grouping reagents imports into China stood at +6.9%. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (+11.8%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.7%), South Korea (+6.5%) and Japan (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hong Kong SAR emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +11.8% from 2012-2022. While the share of Japan (-3.1 p.p.) decreased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blood-grouping reagents in Eastern Asia, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +8.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+1.1% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+12.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 5.8%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
