Brassiere Market Size in Eastern Asia

In 2021, the East Asian brassiere market decreased by -25.7% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, consumption recorded a noticeable descent. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated, when their volume increased by 25% to X units. In general, exports showed a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 189% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, brassiere exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated increased by 1.2% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Japan (X units), distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X units), South Korea (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and China (X units) represented the main importers of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated, together creating 98% of total imports. Democratic People's Republic of Korea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Democratic People's Republic of Korea (with a CAGR of +43.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, growing by 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 4.6%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while Democratic People's Republic of Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
