Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports into Hong Kong SAR decreased at an average annual rate of -6.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Taiwan (Chinese) emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +1.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Macao SAR (-3.8%), South Korea (-10.5%) and Japan (-18.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) increased by +8.9 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cabbage and other brassicas in Eastern Asia, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 1.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Hong Kong SAR was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+0.2% per year) and Japan (-26.9% per year).
