Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 148% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sulphite wood pulp exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 112% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China was the largest exporter of chemical wood pulp (sulphite, other than dissolving grades) in Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Japan (5.4%).
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chemical wood pulp (sulphite, other than dissolving grades) exports, with a CAGR of +22.4% from 2012 to 2021. Japan (-9.3%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-20.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
Taiwan (Chinese) was the key importer of chemical wood pulp (sulphite, other than dissolving grades) in Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 65% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by China (X tons) and Japan (X tons), together comprising a 34% share of total imports.
Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of chemical wood pulp (sulphite, other than dissolving grades). Japan (-6.9%) and China (-9.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Taiwan (Chinese) (+21 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while China saw its share reduced by -14.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), China ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 97% of total imports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 22%.
