In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard, when their volume increased by 43% to X units. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 273% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood dryer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 197%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Japan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard exports, with a CAGR of +10.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+2.4%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. China (+9.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Japan and Taiwan (Chinese) saw its share reduced by -2.7% and -3.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest wood dryer supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 4.8% share of total exports.
In China, wood dryer exports expanded at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.8% per year) and Japan (-8.2% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 35%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Asia
In 2021, the amount of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard imported in Eastern Asia surged to X units, rising by 71% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood dryer imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which accounted for 51% of total imports. Japan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X units). All these countries together took approx. 42% share of total imports. South Korea (X units) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Japan (with a CAGR of +9.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard in Eastern Asia, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 6.4% share.
In China, wood dryer imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+4.2% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-7.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 35% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
