The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, groundnuts exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 8.9%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2022.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ground-nut (in-shell) exports, with a CAGR of -10.1% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2022, approx. X tons of ground-nut (in-shell) were imported in Eastern Asia; declining by -50.5% on 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 1,492%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, groundnuts imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 1,272% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 95% of total imports in 2022. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Japan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ground-nut (in-shell) imports, with a CAGR of +34.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Japan (+5.2%) and Hong Kong SAR (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. China (+37 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan and Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -9.8% and -23.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ground-nut (in-shell) in Eastern Asia, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China totaled +37.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+1.7% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+7.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 9.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 113%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
