Honey Market Size in Eastern Asia

In 2022, the East Asian honey market decreased by -1.5% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total consumption indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -4.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, honey imports fell to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. At the same time, South Korea (+5.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.5%) and China (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +5.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported honey in Eastern Asia, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR, with a 6.5% share.
