In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest m-xylene and xylenes supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan amounted to -17.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Taiwan (Chinese) (+28.5% per year) and South Korea (-35.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. M-xylene and xylenes imports fell significantly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -16.8% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 67%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, m-xylene and xylenes imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 102%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
