The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), mixing up a 9.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to nucleic acid exports from China stood at +3.8%. At the same time, Japan (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012-2021. In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest nucleic acid supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. Export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, nucleic acid export price increased by +62.8% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 17% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while China totaled $X per ton.

Imports in Eastern Asia
For the sixth year in a row, Eastern Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of nucleic acids and their salts, which increased by 5.5% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +52.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 17%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, nucleic acid imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 30%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the largest importers of nucleic acids and their salts in 2021, finishing at near 33% and 32% of total imports, respectively. South Korea (X tons) held a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (13%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +13.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported nucleic acids and their salts in Eastern Asia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan totaled -2.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: China (+7.7% per year) and South Korea (+6.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, falling by -23.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
