In value terms, phosphinates and phosphonates imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 105%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Japan (X tons) represented the largest importer of phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites), making up 54% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 27% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (15%). China (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Japan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) imports, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, South Korea (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.6%) and China (-11.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
