Cement Pipe Market Size in Eastern Asia

The East Asian cement pipe market reduced to $X in 2022, declining by -2.9% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +3.0% against 2020 indices. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +3.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. In 2022, overseas shipments of pipes and other articles of cement decreased by -0.6% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, cement pipe exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), creating a 5.6% share of total exports. Japan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pipes and other articles of cement exports, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Japan (+7.4%) and South Korea (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China increased by +6.5 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2022, overseas purchases of pipes and other articles of cement decreased by -3.6% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.0% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 35%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, cement pipe imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Hong Kong SAR was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 46% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Japan (X tons) and China (X tons). All these countries together took near 49% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of +37.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 81% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +37.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cement pipe import price increased by +23.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 43%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
