As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, polyacetals exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

South Korea was the major exporter of polyacetals in primary forms in Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 50% of total exports in 2021. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2021, overseas purchases of polyacetals in primary forms were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polyacetals imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) was the major importer of polyacetals in primary forms, achieving 76% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Japan (X tons), together achieving a 19% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+9.2%), South Korea (+2.7%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +9.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+14 p.p.) and Japan (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-14.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polyacetals in primary forms in Eastern Asia, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 7.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +6.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hong Kong SAR (-4.1% per year) and Japan (+4.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
