In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest polyamide supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 15% share.

In China, polyamide exports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-0.5% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild contraction. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, polyamide imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a slight curtailment. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 52% of total imports. Japan (X tons) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by South Korea (15%), Hong Kong SAR (8.8%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (7.9%).

Imports into China decreased at an average annual rate of -4.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+4.4%) and South Korea (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +4.4% from 2012-2021. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Japan (+6.8 p.p.) and South Korea (+5.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-12.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polyamides (in primary forms) in Eastern Asia, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at -3.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+2.7% per year) and South Korea (+2.3% per year).
