The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +26.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator exports totaled $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 39%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

China prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Japan (X units), generating a 5.7% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and South Korea (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the radiators for motor vehicles exports, with a CAGR of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.3%), Japan (-1.9%) and South Korea (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+6.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.8 p.p.), South Korea (-1.8 p.p.) and Japan (-3.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +7.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-1.3% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, rising by 24% against the previous year. Export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, motor vehicle radiator export price increased by +46.1% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 36%. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator imports dropped to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China was the key importer of radiators for motor vehicles in Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 54% of total imports in 2022. Japan (X units) held a 26% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (11%) and South Korea (7.2%). Hong Kong SAR (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Japan (+4.3%), South Korea (+3.0%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +4.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Japan (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -2.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest motor vehicle radiator importing markets in Eastern Asia were China ($X), Japan ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), together comprising 91% of total imports.

Japan, with a CAGR of +4.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
