The East Asian vehicle radio market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. In general, consumption recorded a prominent increase. Imports in Eastern Asia

After eight years of decline, purchases abroad of radio receivers for motor vehicles increased by 7.2% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 85%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vehicle radio imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Japan represented the largest importer of radio receivers for motor vehicles in Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 58% of total imports in 2022. Moreover, Taiwan (Chinese) emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-28.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Japan (+37 p.p.), China (+17 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+5 p.p.) and South Korea (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -61.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radio receivers for motor vehicles in Eastern Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan stood at +10.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: China (-0.6% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+16.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 6.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 79%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
