Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refractory bricks, blocks and tiles exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 9% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refractory bricks, blocks and tiles imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

South Korea was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 54% of total imports. Japan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by China (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons). All these countries together held near 45% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to refractory bricks, blocks and tiles imports into South Korea stood at -3.5%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
