As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rice bran exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 346% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Taiwan (Chinese) was the major exporter of rice bran in Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 72% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), comprising a 24% share of total exports. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Taiwan (Chinese) was also the fastest-growing in terms of the rice bran exports, with a CAGR of +64.4% from 2012 to 2021. China (-10.7%) and Hong Kong SAR (-20.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Taiwan (Chinese) (+72 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hong Kong SAR and China saw its share reduced by -20.6% and -44.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest rice bran supplying countries in Eastern Asia were Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), China ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), together accounting for 98% of total exports.
Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +58.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+27.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X tons of rice bran were imported in Eastern Asia; growing by 83% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 160% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, rice bran imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 174% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

China dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 98% of total imports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the rice bran imports, with a CAGR of +69.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. China (+82 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Korea saw its share reduced by -21% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
