In 2022, the East Asian hand stamp market decreased by -0.1% to $X, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. In general, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hand stamp production dropped to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Asia
In 2022, approx. X units of stamps for use in the hand were exported in Eastern Asia; which is down by -16.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hand stamp exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
China represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 80% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), comprising a 15% share of total exports. The following exporters - South Korea (X units) and Japan (X units) - each finished at a 4.5% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hand stamp exports from China stood at -2.1%. South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.6%) and Japan (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+7.1 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest hand stamp supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 6.9% share.
In China, hand stamp exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.0% per year) and Japan (-5.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -1.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Asia
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of stamps for use in the hand decreased by -17.1% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hand stamp imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Japan (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main importers of stamps for use in the hand in Eastern Asia, together accounting for near 71% of total imports. Hong Kong SAR (X units) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by China (12%). Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +10.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +7.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5.5% against the previous year. Import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hand stamp import price increased by +5.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit), while South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
