Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+2.8%) and South Korea (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +2.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-1.9%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+6.3 p.p.), Japan (+3.5 p.p.) and South Korea (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan (Chinese) saw its share reduced by -2.3% and -9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported straight saw blades for working metal in Eastern Asia, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 17% share.
In China, straight saw blade imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+1.9% per year) and Japan (+1.7% per year).
