In 2021, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Japan (X tons) were the major exporters of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons in Eastern Asia, together mixing up 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), comprising a 12% share of total exports.

In 2021, purchases abroad of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons increased by 6.4% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +36.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +33.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

China (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together committing 80% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Japan (6.8%). Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +10.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons importing markets in Eastern Asia were South Korea ($X), China ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 89% share of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +7.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
