As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, enamels and glazes exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +92.4% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - each amounted to a 6.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to enamels and glazes exports from China stood at +12.8%. At the same time, Japan (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China increased by +17 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of vitrifiable enamels and glazes for ceramics, enamelling or glass, when their volume increased by 15% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, enamels and glazes imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +53.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) represented the largest importer of vitrifiable enamels and glazes for ceramics, enamelling or glass, comprising 71% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (8.3%). Japan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to enamels and glazes imports into China stood at +4.3%. At the same time, South Korea (+13.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.5%) and Japan (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of South Korea (+10 p.p.) and China (+4.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Japan (-2 p.p.) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vitrifiable enamels and glazes for ceramics, enamelling or glass in Eastern Asia, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 3.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 1.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +1.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Korea (+4.6% per year) and Japan (+3.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
