The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, women’s bathrobe imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, the largest women’s bathrobe importing markets in Eastern Asia were South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), together accounting for 92% of total imports. China lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 6%.

China, with a CAGR of +23.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 15%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
