In 2021, overseas shipments of air conditioning machines decreased by -2.4% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, air conditioning machine exports totaled $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the three major exporters of air conditioning machines, namely Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Lithuania (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.8% share, followed by Hungary (4.9%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Poland (with a CAGR of +9.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest air conditioning machine supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together accounting for 74% of total exports.
Poland, with a CAGR of +8.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
For the fourth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in supplies from abroad of air conditioning machines, which increased by 17% to X units in 2021. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +86.8% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 27%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, air conditioning machine imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which reached 33% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), Hungary (X units), Romania (X units), Bulgaria (X units), Lithuania (X units), Ukraine (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units), together generating a 63% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of +18.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest air conditioning machine importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Slovakia and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +14.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
