For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded decline in shipments abroad of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof, which decreased by -32.2% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports faced a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 409%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Ukraine was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 63% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Latvia (X kg), Slovakia (X kg) and Estonia (X kg), together generating a 32% share of total exports. The Czech Republic (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Ukraine experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof. At the same time, Slovakia (+353.5%), Latvia (+10.0%) and Estonia (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +353.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-29.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the largest aircraft launching gear supplying countries in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together accounting for 75% of total exports.

Slovakia, with a CAGR of +392.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 135% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 355%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof increased by 61% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 9.5% share.

In Latvia, aircraft launching gear imports expanded at an average annual rate of +62.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Slovakia (-7.8% per year) and Lithuania (-2.4% per year).
