In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, waning by -9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 28%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia amounted to $X per ton.

In 2022, approx. X tons of aluminum (unwrought, not alloyed) were imported in Eastern Europe; growing by 4.9% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, aluminium imports surged to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +121.1% against 2020 indices. In 2022, Poland (X tons), distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), Romania (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main importers of aluminum (unwrought, not alloyed), together generating 93% of total imports. The following importers - Belarus (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - each recorded a 5.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +41.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Hungary ($X) and Romania ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 73% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +45.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium import price increased by +71.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 44%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
