The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia represented the major exporter of ammonium sulphate in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 41% of total exports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 54% share of total exports. Romania (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -9.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+68.5%), Slovakia (+50.6%), Lithuania (+17.9%) and the Czech Republic (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +68.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.6%) and Poland (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+12 p.p.), Belarus (+7.9 p.p.), Lithuania (+7.4 p.p.), Slovakia (+4.7 p.p.) and Romania (+3.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia and Poland saw its share reduced by -8.1% and -11.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, the largest ammonium sulphate supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 61% share of total exports. Poland, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +73.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ammonium sulphate export price increased by +61.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 47% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
