The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, animal feed exports rose notably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +91.7% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 24%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Hungary (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) represented roughly 67% of total exports in 2022. Latvia (X tons) held an 8.1% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Bulgaria (7.4%), Russia (6.6%) and Belarus (5.2%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest animal feed supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Hungary ($X) and Bulgaria ($X), together comprising 59% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Belarus, Russia, Lithuania and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +22.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 11%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Romania (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) represented roughly 84% of total imports in 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
