In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the East European aramids staple market, when its value decreased by -8.7% to $X. In value terms, aramids staple exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Slovakia (X tons) represented roughly 96% of total exports in 2021.
Slovakia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aramids staple exports, with a CAGR of -1.1% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) also remains the largest aramids staple supplier in Eastern Europe.

Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Slovakia.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Slovakia amounted to +0.1% per year.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, overseas purchases of aramids staple were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -40.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aramids staple imports rose to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -32.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of aramids staple, namely Slovakia, Russia and the Czech Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Bulgaria (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (6.7%).
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +62.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), Russia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 78% of total imports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 20%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +44.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
