Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +35.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hungary (-1.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland, Bulgaria and Romania increased by +28, +3.9 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported artificial and prepared waxes of polyethylene glycol in Eastern Europe, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with a 6.5% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 5.9% share.

In Poland, polyethylene glycol wax imports increased at an average annual rate of +19.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bulgaria (+27.1% per year) and the Czech Republic (-0.8% per year).
