In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the East European baby carriage market, when its value decreased by -6.2% to $X. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, baby carriage production totaled $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, approx. X units of baby carriages were exported in Eastern Europe; dropping by -12.9% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, baby carriage exports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 16%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 68% of total exports in 2022. Romania (X units) took a 9.3% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Bulgaria (6.9%). Lithuania (X units), Belarus (X units), Estonia (X units) and Russia (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from Poland decreased at an average annual rate of -6.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Russia (+21.6%), Estonia (+14.4%), Bulgaria (+7.1%) and Belarus (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +21.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Romania (-4.4%) and Lithuania (-12.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Bulgaria, Russia and Estonia increased by +4.9, +2 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest baby carriage supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (-5.9% per year) and Lithuania (-6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 2.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 15%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+7.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of baby carriages, when their volume decreased by -7.3% to X units. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby carriage imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +22.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia was the key importer of baby carriages in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 50% of total imports in 2022. Poland (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Romania (5.5%), the Czech Republic (4.8%) and Bulgaria (4.8%). The following importers - Ukraine (X units) and Hungary (X units) - each recorded a 6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to baby carriage imports into Russia stood at -3.7%. At the same time, Romania (+7.5%), Hungary (+7.4%), Poland (+4.1%), Bulgaria (+3.7%) and the Czech Republic (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +7.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Ukraine (-13.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+10 p.p.), Romania (+3.4 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.1 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+1.8 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ukraine (-8 p.p.) and Russia (-9.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the largest baby carriage importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together accounting for 78% of total imports. Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +7.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+10.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
