Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs exports, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lithuania (+3.6%), Estonia (+3.1%) and Russia (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland increased by +26 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2021, the amount of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs imported in Eastern Europe declined to X tons, shrinking by -13.3% compared with 2020. Overall, imports saw a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, battered fish fillet imports fell to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. At the same time, Lithuania (+12.9%), Romania (+11.0%), the Czech Republic (+8.2%), Hungary (+7.5%) and Slovakia (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Belarus (-3.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 12% share.
