In 2022, the amount of blades for construction equipment exported in Eastern Europe reduced modestly to X units, waning by -2.4% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, construction equipment blade exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Hungary (X units), Russia (X units) and Slovakia (X units), together resulting at 71% of total export. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), Estonia (X units) and Poland (X units), together generating a 21% share of total exports. Romania (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +55.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Hungary ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Russia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 68% share of total exports. Estonia, Belarus, Poland and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +53.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, supplies from abroad of blades for construction equipment increased by 0.9% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. Total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, construction equipment blade imports reached $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Hungary (X units) represented the major importer of blades for construction equipment, achieving 58% of total imports. Russia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Poland (X units) and Romania (X units). All these countries together took near 27% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (X units), Lithuania (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Hungary increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bulgaria (+21.9%) and Lithuania (+12.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +21.9% from 2012-2022. Romania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-2.1%), Poland (-3.7%) and the Czech Republic (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Hungary (+17 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.5 p.p.) and Lithuania (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Poland, the Czech Republic and Russia saw its share reduced by -3.8%, -5.2% and -7.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Hungary ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blades for construction equipment in Eastern Europe, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 6.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Hungary totaled +7.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (-2.3% per year) and Lithuania (+16.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
