Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, blow lamp exports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 52% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

Estonia represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 58% of total exports. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Russia (8.7%) and Belarus (7.7%). The Czech Republic (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Estonia increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+34.9%), the Czech Republic (+32.7%), Poland (+7.6%) and Russia (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +34.9% from 2012-2022. Estonia (+36 p.p.), Poland (+11 p.p.), Belarus (+7.7 p.p.), Russia (+4.5 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+4.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Estonia ($X) remains the largest blow lamp supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Estonia stood at +10.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+10.3% per year) and Russia (+11.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 2.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, blow lamp export price increased by +51.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 63% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+9.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of blow lamps, when their volume decreased by -2.5% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

At the same time, the Czech Republic (+23.7%), Ukraine (+16.6%), Belarus (+14.4%), Poland (+8.6%) and Estonia (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +23.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Romania (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland and Belarus increased by +9.8, +5.9, +4.7 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blow lamps in Eastern Europe, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Estonia ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 12% share.

In Russia, blow lamp imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Estonia (+3.9% per year) and Poland (+10.7% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -7.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
