In 2021, the East European brassiere market decreased by -3.3% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Russia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+32.2%), Slovakia (+5.4%) and the Czech Republic (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +32.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Latvia (-1.3%), Belarus (-4.2%) and Hungary (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+26 p.p.), Slovakia (+3.1 p.p.), Russia (+2.8 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belarus and Hungary saw its share reduced by -6.5% and -7.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest brassiere supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 7.7% share.

In Poland, brassiere exports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+17.9% per year) and Hungary (-7.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, growing by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 10%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poland (X units) and Russia (X units) represented roughly 57% of total imports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Hungary (6.1%), Slovakia (6%), Romania (5.6%) and Ukraine (4.7%).

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +9.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest brassiere importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +15.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
