Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 133% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. Russia represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), constituting a 12% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -30.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 151% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-6.5%).

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, purchases abroad of bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides decreased by -1.5% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports declined to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main importers of bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides in Eastern Europe, together committing 54% of total imports. Romania (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Ukraine (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 39% share of total imports. Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +32.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Romania ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 61% share of total imports. Ukraine, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Ukraine, with a CAGR of +18.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
