In value terms, broom, brush, and mop production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -8.3% against 2020 indices. Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, overseas shipments of brooms, brushes, and mops decreased by -0.9% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +32.8% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 28%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from the Czech Republic (X units), Poland (X units) and Hungary (X units), together reaching 72% of total export. Belarus (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 8.2% share, followed by Russia (7.3%). Romania (X units) and Lithuania (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +28.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 77% share of total exports. Russia, Lithuania, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Russia, with a CAGR of +17.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 17%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, supplies from abroad of brooms, brushes, and mops decreased by -6.8% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +17.1% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia was the main importer of brooms, brushes, and mops in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 38% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), Hungary (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Belarus (X units), Romania (X units) and Ukraine (X units), together mixing up a 54% share of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of brooms, brushes, and mops. At the same time, Hungary (+19.0%), Belarus (+15.4%), Romania (+7.7%), Poland (+5.7%) and the Czech Republic (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +19.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Ukraine (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Hungary (+8.4 p.p.), Belarus (+4 p.p.), Poland (+3.1 p.p.) and Romania (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-2.3 p.p.), Ukraine (-3.5 p.p.) and Russia (-12.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the largest broom, brush, and mop importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Hungary ($X), together comprising 63% of total imports.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +14.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
