Slovakia (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 69% of total exports in 2022. Romania (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Ukraine (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 26% share of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +11.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 73% of total exports. Romania, Ukraine and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +17.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 25% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, carbides export price increased by +60.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+5.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of carbides imported in Eastern Europe fell modestly to X tons, which is down by -3.9% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, carbides imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
