Data Storage Device Market Size in Eastern Europe

The East European data storage device market rose slightly to $X in 2022, surging by 2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, the Czech Republic (X units), distantly followed by Poland (X units), Slovakia (X units), Latvia (X units) and Lithuania (X units) represented the key exporters of data storage devices, together committing 88% of total exports. The following exporters - Hungary (X units) and Romania (X units) - each reached a 7.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +24.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 24%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+13.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

Data storage device imports fell to X units in 2022, which is down by -7% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, data storage device imports dropped to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 2.3% against the previous year. Import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, data storage device import price increased by +18.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
