The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.9% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, pimenta pepper exports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +69.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 21%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
Hungary (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly 51% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Latvia (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Romania (X tons), together creating a 41% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest pimenta pepper supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Hungary ($X), Poland ($X) and Latvia ($X), with a combined 65% share of total exports. Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, pimenta pepper imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.2% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. In 2022, Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the key importers of pimenta pepper in Eastern Europe, together committing 49% of total imports. Hungary (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (9%), Romania (6.5%), Bulgaria (6.5%), Ukraine (6.2%) and Slovakia (4.8%).

In value terms, Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 58% share of total imports. The Czech Republic, Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +7.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 4.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 9.7%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
