The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chromatograph exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The biggest shipments were from Russia (X units), Lithuania (X units), Estonia (X units), Romania (X units) and Hungary (X units), together accounting for 79% of total export. Poland (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X units). All these countries together took near 9.4% share of total exports. Latvia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Estonia (with a CAGR of +49.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest chromatograph supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 33% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Estonia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +8.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (+55.8% per year) and Lithuania (+13.1% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 41% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, chromatograph imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the key importer of chromatographs and electrophoresis instruments in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 43% of total imports in 2022. Poland (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X units), Ukraine (X units), Lithuania (X units), Hungary (X units) and Romania (X units). All these countries together took near 47% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lithuania (+7.2%), Ukraine (+5.9%) and the Czech Republic (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012-2022. Poland and Romania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hungary (-1.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+3.9 p.p.), Russia (+3.3 p.p.), Lithuania (+2.9 p.p.) and Ukraine (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hungary saw its share reduced by -1.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chromatographs and electrophoresis instruments in Eastern Europe, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 6.4% share.

In Russia, chromatograph imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+0.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
