In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the East European cinematographic camera market, when its value decreased by -53.1% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a measured expansion. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In value terms, cinematographic camera production contracted modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2017 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of cinematographic cameras for film, when their volume decreased by -48.5% to X units. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 364% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, cinematographic camera exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 472% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X units) represented the major exporter of cinematographic cameras for film, creating 43% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X units), Slovakia (X units), Poland (X units) and Bulgaria (X units), together creating a 55% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cinematographic camera exports from the Czech Republic stood at +17.2%. At the same time, Hungary (+47.7%), Poland (+35.0%), Bulgaria (+30.7%) and Slovakia (+12.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +47.7% from 2012-2022. In value terms, the largest cinematographic camera supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Hungary ($X), Slovakia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together accounting for 72% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +38.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of cinematographic cameras for film, when their volume decreased by -62.1% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 150% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, cinematographic camera imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Slovakia (X units) and Hungary (X units) represented the largest importers of cinematographic cameras for film in Eastern Europe, together recording approx. 66% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X units) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (6%) and Romania (6%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, growing by 67% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
