The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cocoa paste importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Ukraine ($X), together comprising 80% of total imports. Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Belarus and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +21.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Czech Republic ($X per ton) and Belarus ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) and Estonia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
