The country with the largest volume of production of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres was Lithuania (X tons), accounting for 89% of total volume. Moreover, production of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres in Lithuania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Ukraine (X tons), eightfold.

Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, shipments abroad of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 116%. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a resilient expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 49% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 18% share, followed by Poland (10%), Belarus (8.6%) and Russia (6.5%). Lithuania (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre exports from the Czech Republic stood at +20.9%. At the same time, Belarus (+69.7%), Hungary (+46.8%), Latvia (+41.1%), Russia (+10.5%) and Poland (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +69.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Lithuania (-13.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Czech Republic (+31 p.p.), Hungary (+17 p.p.), Belarus (+8.5 p.p.) and Latvia (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Poland (-5.2 p.p.) and Lithuania (-31.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Hungary ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 73% of total exports.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +41.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+11.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres declined remarkably to X tons in 2022, shrinking by -17.5% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +17.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Poland (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the major importers of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres, together comprising 87% of total imports. Latvia (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +79.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 65% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +69.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
