In 2022, the East European market for copper bars, rods and profiles increased by 0.8% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The following exporters - Slovakia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - each recorded a 4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +8.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Bulgaria ($X), Poland ($X) and Ukraine ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total exports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +7.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper bar, rod and profile export price increased by +33.4% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 42% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +8.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Hungary ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 74% of total imports.
