In 2021, overseas shipments of copper powders and flakes were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced decline. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper powder exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), constituting a 7.7% share of total exports. Slovakia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper powder exports from Russia stood at -3.7%. At the same time, Slovakia (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +2.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Poland (-7.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia and Slovakia increased by +2.1 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest copper powder supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.
In Russia, copper powder exports decreased by an average annual rate of -3.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (-5.6% per year) and Slovakia (+6.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 42% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
For the fifth consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded decline in purchases abroad of copper powders and flakes, which decreased by -3.5% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper powder imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a perceptible contraction. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Poland (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) represented roughly 84% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Lithuania (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) - each reached a 7.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +86.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest copper powder importing markets in Eastern Europe were Romania ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, Slovakia, Ukraine and Lithuania, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Among the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +64.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 34% against the previous year. Import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, copper powder import price increased by +75.3% against 2016 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
