In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the key exporter of cotton lint, comprising 60% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Latvia (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together took near 36% share of total exports. Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Poland (+11.4%) and Hungary (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Russia (+56 p.p.), Hungary (+21 p.p.), Latvia (+5.8 p.p.) and Poland (+4.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Bulgaria saw its share reduced by -14.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Hungary ($X), Russia ($X) and Latvia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 82% share of total exports. Poland and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.8%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
