In 2021, approx. X tons of crude cotton-seed oil were imported in Eastern Europe; with an increase of 115% against the previous year. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cotton-seed oil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) was the key importer of crude cotton-seed oil, comprising 85% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), committing a 14% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to cotton-seed oil imports into Poland stood at +35.9%. At the same time, Russia (+54.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +54.3% from 2012-2021. Poland (+83 p.p.) and Russia (+14 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported crude cotton-seed oil in Eastern Europe, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports.
In Poland, cotton-seed oil imports expanded at an average annual rate of +29.8% over the period from 2012-2021.

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 53% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
