Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 33%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports soared to X tons in 2021, growing by 21% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 69% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +40.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Russia represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 73% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Poland (6.3%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports from Russia stood at +35.9%. At the same time, Poland (+37.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +37.3% from 2012-2021. Hungary experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Russia (+57 p.p.) and Poland (+5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hungary saw its share reduced by -53.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

In Russia, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports expanded at an average annual rate of +23.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hungary (-3.3% per year) and Poland (+38.5% per year).

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

Cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports soared to X tons in 2021, surging by 29% on the year before. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented the main importers of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) in Eastern Europe, together comprising 64% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Estonia (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together constituting a 27% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Estonia (with a CAGR of +207.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports. Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

Among the main importing countries, Estonia, with a CAGR of +116.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 37% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild downturn. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+6.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
